Couples Therapy

Couples therapy provides a supportive setting for partners to better understand one another, improve communication, and work through relationship challenges. Dr. Sample works collaboratively with couples to identify recurring patterns, address areas of conflict, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another.

Therapy offers an opportunity to explore relationship concerns with greater understanding, respect, and compassion while working toward meaningful and sustainable change.

What Can Couples Therapy Help With?

Couples therapy may help partners address concerns such as:

  • Communication difficulties and misunderstandings

  • Recurring arguments and unresolved conflict

  • Emotional distance or difficulty feeling connected

  • Differences in needs, expectations, or goals

  • Trust and relationship concerns

  • Stress related to life transitions

  • Developing healthier ways to manage disagreements

Each couple’s circumstances are unique. Therapy is tailored to the partners’ concerns, strengths, and goals.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

I emphasize a collaborative therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, respect, compassion, and open communication. Sessions provide an opportunity for partners to explore their perspectives, better understand relationship patterns, and identify opportunities for change.

The approach may incorporate evidence-informed strategies to support communication, emotional awareness, problem-solving, and healthier relationship interactions. The goals of therapy are developed collaboratively based on each couple’s needs.

What to Expect

Initial sessions focus on understanding the concerns that bring you to therapy, learning about each partner’s perspective, and identifying shared goals. You do not need to have all the answers before beginning.

Couples therapy involves collaboration and a willingness to explore relationship patterns and consider new ways of communicating and responding to one another.
